At St. Aidan this ministry is open to all boys and girls in grades five through 12 in both Catholic and Public Schools. Altar Servers assist at Sunday masses and most weekday masses, in addition to funerals and weddings. Training sessions are conducted in the fall and the spring.
ALTAR SERVER RESPONSIBILITIES ARE:
1. Caring for the altar candles
2. Bearing the candles and cross in processions
3. Carrying the incense thurible and boat
4. Assisting with holy water, water, wine and offertory gifts
5. Preparing the Eucharistic table for the Liturgy of the Eucharist
6. Holding the Roman Missal for the priest to read

St. Aidan’s has approximately 140 active Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. They minister at all weekday and weekend Masses. In the past few years there has been an average of 6-8 new EMHC’s each year. Anyone interested in becoming an EMHC attends the required Diocesan Training session, must have attended a Virtus Training class and has been background checked. They are installed on the Feast of Corpus Christi in June. During the fall, a mandatory Evening of Reflection and Renewal in Order is held to show the EMHC’s an appreciation of their ministry and to address any issues.

There are approximately 70 active Lectors at St. Aidan’s. They minister at all weekday and weekend masses. In the past three years there has been an average of 6 new Lectors each year. Anyone interested in becoming a Lector must attend the required Diocesan Training Sessions and they are then installed on the feast of Christ the King in November. During the fall a mandatory Evening of Reflection and Renewal in Order is held to show the Lectors proper appreciation of their ministry and to address any issues.

The usher program at St. Aidan’s plays an important role in creating a welcoming and orderly environment during Masses. Ushers greet parishioners as they arrive, help them find seating, and assist with the collection and Communion. Their presence helps liturgies move smoothly.
Junior Usher
Our new Junior Usher Program offers our students will now have the opportunity to assist at weekend Masses as ushers.
